Success with windows install in linux

First of all, thanks to:

and
Frelov

for there posts. Without reading the above I would not have been able to get the courage in install windows after Linux.

Here is my story.

I followup the directions from the links above. My first glitch was that my win98 cd was not bootable for some reason. So, I was able to d/l and new copy which work. Though, in the installion it did not recognize the partition I created. I finally gave win2k a try. This saw my partition that I created.

I went through with the install. Amazingly enough, win2k never overwrote my MBR??? Grub maintained itself. One thing I did that I'm not sure if it made a difference or not. At one point in Grub I had made the entry to boot windows, but did not have an OS to boot. (I don't remember why I did that)

Anyway, I install win2k. At the first reboot, I still went directly to Linux. ( I remember now, I actually made the Grub entry at this point after win2k made its first installation step.) I figured I'd edit grub to see the windows partition to see if it would boot windows so that it could finish the installation. That worked. win2k finishing installing, reboot several hundred times and I was good. I never lost the MBR and Grub has always remained the bootloader.

Just though I'd share the info with ya.

Erik
