i have Mandrake 9.1 installed on a late model Compaq Presario and it's really however, for the longest time i could not get XMMS to play any damn sound. but here i am today trying to set up a webserver when i thought to myself, "i just got to have newage music via shoutcast playing in the background". so i took a shot in the wind, i loaded up XMMS and it connected just fine, however, no sound. so i said, ok, i got just one shot.... what if i just change the driver from aTis to OOG (or whatever) and low and behold... it WORKED!

so nice, after all this time to at least have that, still does not explain to me why it gave me so much trouble earlier but... oh well.
