I guess you could say I'm a newbie at linux. I've been working in the IT field for about 10 years now, but have only had a little bit of experience with Linux/Unix. I knew how to get around the filesystem a little, but that was about it.
About a week and a half ago, I decided to start of project of building a spam filtering email gateway. I started with a Mandrake 9.2 installation, SpamAssassin, and Amavis. I didn't have much trouble installing Mandrake, it was super easy. Postfix wasn't that difficult either. I did have some problems though. Making Amavis and Postfix exchange the mail back and forth did cause me some problems.
I would just like to say 1 1/2 weeks later, I got it working today.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
With the help of members on LQ.com, google searches, and endless hours of reading I managed to build a Linux server, that accepts incoming email, scans it for spam, and forwards email to our internal network. And best of all it was all FREE! My boss thinks I'm a genious! LOL
I wanted to share some of the most useful links for this process, and also say thanks for everyone's help.
