Wink OS problem turned out - hardware

As a newbie I thought that multiple problems with my OS were related to quirks in Mandrake 9.2 The OS would crash and cause various wierd error messages even after multiple installations on the same machine until I tried it on a different machine and found that I had a bad/old CD ROM drive. Some of the packages were not being loaded. After installing a new CD ROM Drive, a new burner, and a fresh upgrade(not even a complete install) I have yet to find a flaw. Everything runs smoothly and works great now. Beware of your hardware!!!

Ah, the joys of flaky hardware.

Glad to hear you got everything working... maybe this should be moved into the member sucess stories section though. Considering it isn't a question and is about celebrating your success.

[Don't make a new thread there... if it should be moved I am sure a moderator will take care of it.]
