Kubuntu convert - it is Good!

Hi all

I'm an occasional Linux user for 5 years and full time user for nearly a year now. I've tried many distros and settled with Suse 10.2 as one I liked. However, I just had an old low spec Pentium 3 computer given to me and I thought I'd give Ubuntu a go as everyone is raving about it....

It rocks! Wow... The install was easy and everything just worked.. I found Gnome hard as I've only used KDE so I 'uprated it to Kde (Kbuntu) and I am so impressed. The wireless internet hardware I used was my D-link USB dongle (that I eventually managed to get working with Suse after hours of work).
With Ubuntu, it just started up and connected as soon as I set the WEP key! As a Linux user of some time, that was impressive! No fiddling with ndiswrapper or checking chipsets - just genuine plug and play!

I also this week reinstalled XP on a friends computer. It took me longer to set that up and configure the wireless settings than it did with Ubuntu. It is a real eye-opener doing both an XP fresh install and an Ubuntu one. You'd think that the XP was the free one - except that had to be verified and go through two validation procedures. The windows update was long and fussy, the Ubuntu one simple and straightforward.

I am one very impressed Kubuntu user. Give it a try folks

the reason you have to validate it twice is because microsoft is scared that you might pirate it and in xp you have to go through all the "wizards" which is very annoying

ive been with suse for a while now, and I tried to change to Kubuntu, but i just couldnt use it because I didnt find it configurable enough, I couldnt find all the settings even in the control centre thing. I heard that using ubuntu and then installing KDE ontop of it helps, but isnt as efficient as Kubuntu.

I changed because I heard that everything worked easier on Kubuntu, but I had to move back to openSuse 10.2 because its so much more configurable :)
