Talking Knoppix to the resuce...

a few days ago i was gifted with a Panasonic DVD 4x burner to add to my game box that I also use to store a lot of TV shows like Lost, 24, and what not i grab down from torrents. my work schedule does not allow for me to be home to watch them, dont have a tivo type setup, and wife forgets to record with the VCR.

anyways today i go to install the burner and it kills my OS. that is my gaming box thus it runs winXP pro. well XP is dead dead. i am going to have to rebuild the OS. not a happy camper atm i am not...

well i had to get a 7.17G folder burned for a friend (Lost season 1 episode 1-20) today as a promise so in goes my Knoppix 3.8 live CD.

knoppix toram dma xmodule=radeon and away i go. fire up k3b and start up new DVD project. it is stuck at 1% atm, but this is the first time i have tried burning in linux a DVD, in fact it is MY first time burning any DVD. Hope this goes well as i would love to get my game box back up as today is my 1 day off a week. its play time.

anyways three cheers for linux to the resuce.

I'd suggest starting a new thread in Linux-General, let's not spoil the moment

If you have a look in the Book Review section, I reviewed a book called Knoppix Hacks which has a large number of things you can do with Knoppix.

own it *grins* tis how i knew about the dma and other hacks i used to load knoppix. very good book. the knoppix26 hack is no longer needed with the 3.8vs of knoppix as its default kernel is the 2.6 kernel.

yeah.
