Wink Installed Linux - now I can't get on the computer ;)

Hi,

I've installed Mandrake 10 on my second harddrive and have a dual boot Win86/Linux LILO config.

I expected I'd be the only one using Linux, however I have trouble getting on as my wife and kids like the Linux games so much, they are always booting ii up to play .

My wife is a big crack attack fan (solo mode) and was very pleased to make the top of the (solo) highscore list last week.

The only problem is that a lot of stuff is a bit slow on our poor 433Mhz Celeron, maybe its time up update!

Cheers Stephen

welcome to LQ.org BlendedRacer ...
i am glad to see the linux fever has run throughout your household

but just a little pointer on the slowness (i assume your using KDE or GNOME) maybe
you could install a lightweight (and might i add awesome) window manager such
as fluxbox, which won't be near as hard on your systems resources like the above
mentioned desktop environments ...

At the moment I'm stuck with KDE as all the windows are supersized on (several of) the 'lightweight' desktop managers. I'm sure there's an easy way to fix it, but I can't see anything apart from the middle of the windows!!

I've googled and forum searched for a fix, but as yet haven't worked it out.

From what I saw (the middle bit!!!) fluxbox behaved very nicely, oh well.

Cheers Stephen
