I woke up!

I've been using windows .... correction, being forced to use windows ever since I started in IT. Windows was ok for when i started but now unforunatley there are just too many hickups with windows and of course its abit expensive. And that damn microsoft keep coming up with sh*tter versions of windows and forcing people to use it. Fair enuf its user friendly but i think its for morons.

While studying i came across Dragon linux (a 7 stiffy version of linux). We were using it to host a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) at the institute and I was amazed at everything that could be done with it. Then one of my collegues showed me his home pc and I really like the look of linux (x-windows), but I thought its not user friendly so i didnt really bother with it. Later I needed to do sum serious coding on the MUD so I got hold of RedHat Linux, installed it and began coding with it. At this point I was still using windows (windows95!) mostly and only using Redhat for the coding. Later i got my hands on Mandrake, installed and was really impressed by the look of it.

I finished my work on the MUD and then stopped using linux for a few years. The last version i used was REdHat 7.3 and mandrake 7.1.

When Vista was released i thought "OMG! what the hell is this??!" Poeple have been complaining the XP drivers dont work with Vista and sum applications wont work with it AND it eats resources like a cop in a donut shop! There is no way in hell i am going to use Vista so I did sum research to see what was the latest redhat release so i can download it, and I came across fedora core 8. I've installed it and thought to myself "I'm home!" lol. I plan to use linux more often in the future and I'm gonna get rid of this windblows crap. Microsuck must take their Sh*t and F*ck off. The only reason I'm still gonna use it is because Unreal Tournament 3 is a kickass game!

I'm using fedora core 8 now for 3 months and i find linux very intimadating but after i go thru most of the HOWTOs i should have a small clue of whats going on.

I must say Fedora Core 8 has come a long way since Red Hat 4 (my first distro)

Once I read that Unreal Tournament for Linux actually was on
the cdrom for Windows. Hidden away somewhere.
Linux file examples : UT2003-Demo-Linux.sh.bin, ut2003demo-lnx-2206.sh.bin
ut2004-lnx-demo-3120.run.bz2, /UT2004-SAS/sas_30_lnx.run

Hiya Speed-DX, Welcome to LQ, and welcome (back) to Linux!

I liked reading your intro and got a giggle or two out of it (Windows eating resources?? No WAY!?) lol

Anyhow, enjoy!

No never heard of it, the only reason i put the _X at the end is because Speed_demon was already in use.
