Finally Getting Somewhere
I got a few guides from tldp.org and im also following the online tutorial at linux.org and after just a few days of actually getting down and dirty with linux, im getting somewhere with my abilities :D
i installed ubuntu several days ago, i like it cos not only is it shipped free (the main reason as im a 56K user :P) it has what i want - simplicity, i dont like it when there is 10 different programs for one thing, ubuntu has one program for each task, which i like After going thru just a small amount of the tutorial, i got a mediocre grasp of the command line, learnt how to make alias', as well as make, copy, move files (although i had to look elsewhere to figure out how to delete directories) so im quite happy as i needed to use most of these skills in installing Azureus first i had to get java, then after downloading java, i had to copy it to the /usr directory, then run it, then i downloaded azureus, extracted it and ran it in the terminal, after which after reading a post here :P, figured out how to create a shortcut to the program itself im glad to say after this small victory, im more willing to download and install more programs under linux, this is one large step for me to become independent of winXP ciao |
Keep it up and after some time you will see that there is no need for windows ;)

The joys of Ubuntu, eh?! Glad you're enjoying things and are already leaps + bounds ahead others by understanding the concept of reading the documentation ;) Keep it up!

Nice stuff, it sure must feel good to have that feeling of gaining new knowledge and seeing the immediate results. Here's to a Windows free future! :)
