*nix Rollout

Well, I got the greelight on a linux rollout, department by department. All i really needed was to show how well linux was already integrated with our mostly-M$ network now, and my laptop has Absolutely no loss in function...., never mind the servers Mgt. could have sworn were M$.

Had to give up the laptop for a day, to let them eval it, and the BINGO. RH9 for EVERYONE!!! Linux Rocks!!!

side note: most of the points came from an analysis of how expensive it was going to be over the next three years to maintain some of our older windows box's, with the end of life policies and such, and how *NIX would save us alot as well as make the most out of our machines for far longer than would M$. Security was a not so distant second. And simple virii susceptibility rounded the corner in third by a hair.

Xcellent!! Hopefully when M$ and Intel start up "their" longhorn/paladium garbage more Companies will "see the light also" and tell Bill G. to shove it, and go open source also. Why spend literally Millions of $$$ for nothing when their Current Hardware is still usefull and Productive!!
