Ubuntu! No way dude...YOUbuntu!
My first web dev job was a company that exclusively used iMacs and Apache back in 2000. It busted with most of the other .coms... These days I'm all Microsoft all the time (.Net, etc) for day job, so its been refreshing to look back in on Linux.
I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 based on a friend's suggestion, and have been having a great, yet semi-frustrating time totally dorking out.
Thanks for the great site for questions.
As a fellow .net developer, I'd like to point out the Mono project. Running the .NET framework on a *nix machine. Also check out SharpDevelop, for an OpenSource equivalent Visual Studio.
Thanks dguitar, and a couple questions.
Are you a guitarist? I am.
I am looking into Mono - a friend suggested it just before you did. Do you know of a site that explains exactly how to get all the proper packages installed? Or can I just go "sudo aptitude install mono" or something?
Also - if you don't mind taking a quick look at my other post:
I've been trying to solve this for 3 days...if you have any suggestion I'd appreciate it.
