sort of Newbie

Hi, just thought i better post as a (kind of) newbie. Been using Mandriva for about a year now, but starting to feel the need to know more. also install problems with 2006 have lead me to get a bit more involved.
I have used *NIX in various forms for (gulp) 20 years, but never had to get heavily involved in the technical aspects. Will doubtless lurk in the Mandriva forums !!

an observation of Mandriva (and Linux in general), is that its incredibly feature richh, reliable and easy to use......but.....it still has a way to go before its full end-user ready. however, I can see that it might get there soon. Better packaging and more glitch free upgrades would take it there.

Just my 2 pennyworth !!! LOL
