Old programmer - new to linux
Hi folks. I'm an old retread COBOL code wolloper who's been working in Solaris and newer stuff the past few years. Tried Linus back a few years ago (on a 486 - that long), but family revolted. Now restarting with an OLD 450 Mhz K6-2 box (dog slow in Gnome) and the latest Fedora distrib. I've weaned the family off of most MS apps and everybody uses Firefox and OpenOffice now, so the shock isn't too great. This box will be (for now) the "extra" browser and office SW machine for homework, etc.
I find I've forgotten the bit of Linux I learned back then and need some pointers.
Where's the best place to get config info for XFCE? It runs a bit better than Gnome but doesn't install all the application shortcuts, etc. for everybody.
