Non-techie librarian

Hello everyone! I'm a librarian without a lot of tech background trying to resurrect an old laptop with Linux. I've been fascinated with Linux for years and have wanted to try it, but didn't have a computer I could mess around with and potentially break before

I WILL ask stupid questions. Expect that. But I will also listen patiently and will give any help I can!

I can empathize. I started when someone gave me an old computer; I had been hesitant because I didn't want to take a chance on breaking the "family" computer. It was back in the days when most families had only one computer. I started reading LQ almost immediately, but didn't register for about eight months.

Welcome to LQ.
