Lightbulb Newbie to Slackware

I am a Chinese. I have been using Linux for a long time. In most occasions, I just use the GUI applications the distributions offer. Usually it gets my job done, but also keep me from knowing what is exactly going on under the GUI. I believe that Linux is a great system, so I hope I can introduce it to more and more people around me in China. How could you accomplish it without knowing the fundamental concepts about it?
So I choose Slackware, I hope I can study more basic concepts about Linux by using it.
