Unhappy Newbie says Hello All

Coming to you from St. Louis. An old dos guy, but know nothing about Unix or Linux. I run a teeny-tiny print shop in the St. Louis area and have a need to implement some file sharing. Have about 4 workstations mostly Windows XP with one being Win 7. Don't need to share programs, just data files. You'll probably tell me I could do this with Windows workstation shares, but thought I'd study up on it a little here.

Welcome to LQ.

Learning is good. I commend your ambition.

If you want to have Linux and Windows computers share back and forth, read up on Samba and don't use Windows "homegroup" "sharing," as it works only with Windows.
