Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Rather than crazy, most Linux users would consider you brave for trying it and not caring so much if your friends think otherwise. Even if you should decide you don't like it, at least you've tested the waters and know more about Linux than them.
OK! A bit about myself.
Currently work for a utility company and maintain networking devices (switches, routers, firewalls) to full production servers (windows OSs and Linux). Quite proficient in networking but enjoy playing with linux. During free time try to work on scripts for fun.
LQ has been a life saver many times when im in a rut. I've never felt a need to create a account since every need has always been addressed by google searching. Now though, something is driving me crazy, but that on another post. Hopefully i'm of help somewhere.
