New to Slackware & having problems with graphics

Hello All,
I'm new to Linux. I've just completed installation of Slackware to a computer with Biostar TX790 mother board with on board graphics card. I'm getting ghost effects when moving windows around in KDE. Possibly caused by insufficient card memory, however, because I haven't been able to figure out how to boot directly to hard drive /, I thought there might be something wrong with my installation. Any suggestions?
