New Old Timer

I started running Linux way back when ...

First successful install was Slackware 3.2? downloaded via my zippy fast 14.4 modem, played rawrite and swap the floppy about thirty times to make the install disks.

I've played with Red Hat, Mandrake, Debian, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Fedora, Mandriva, Gentoo, Ubuntu and Kubuntu over the years - I always go back to Slackware. My main desktop machine will still boot 4 different OS's - eXPee, Slackware 12, Gentoo, and Kubuntu.

I went back to the dark side for a few years, I was playing AO, WoW, and a few others ... that's my excuse anyway.

I recently got a new lappy, with a free upgrade to win7. Am preparing for that install by nuking Vista, repartitioning and installed Slackware_64 13. I'm here to research my wireless issues, Win7 will be here in a few days so I have plenty of time to work it out.

Wicd-client is having issues connecting to my WPA access point.

Thanks for reading, and for the resources found here.

There are quite a few of us "mature" Linux folks here. ;) Welcome to LQ, Cobratek!

There are indeed - but not enough ;)

Wifi is a heck of a lot easier to get working now than it was even a few years ago, so I'm sure you'll get it running. Just remember that you don't need to configure SLIP ;)
