New Linux user reporting in

Hello guys,

I'm Darren, and I planned to lurk for a while before posting anything. That is, until I saw this little message suggesting I ask a question, or introduce myself here posted at the top of my page. Since I don't have questions (yet) I'll go for the intro.

I've loaded Ubuntu onto my desktop, but it rarely gets used as I have windows on the machine, and I primary use that. I run boinc on the windows. Maybe I will load a Linux version and run Ubuntu on my primary system for a while.

I just purchased a EEE PC without windows (shipping now), and plan to get rid of the Xandros in favor of Ubuntu. (don't worry I joined a eee usergroup for that task.)

I'll enjoy reading through the board and learning from others here.

I'm not looking forward to learning command lines again.

naw!, welcome. i've been long to begin to post myself and i define myself as an 'eternal newbee'. Anyway, about THE command line, yeah it's daunting(a little!) but i think you'll be soon finding yourself typing: <sudo aptitude install xxxx> in place of opening synaptic or other gui thingies!. Have fun and forgive my English (i'm French). Reine.

There is nothing to forgive Reine! Your English is better than many Americans.

Back in the day, I preferred DOS over windows. Now Windows has made me fat, dumb, and Lazy.
