New guy in Linux
Well, this is my intro post.
I'm 25, love working with computers. Always been a Windows user (not so much a fan thought) I have 3 computers in my house. 1. Dell Dimmension Desktop: P4 2.58 Gigs, 512mb Ram, 64mb video. WinXp Home + Feroda 5 Linux partrition. 2. Gateway Laptop: P4 HT 3+ Gigs, 512mb Ram, 32mb Video, WinXP Home. 3. Custom PC: P2 400 megs, 256mb Ram, 64mb Video, Win98 SE. All I can say is that even though I do not have an impresive array of PC's I've managed to do allot with them. I'm currently trying to install Fedora in my laptop instead of my desktop, but do not want to format HD since I have the system backup partrition setup that came from the factory and I donot want to loose it. Thats it for me. HOLLA! :newbie: |

Just a random idea from another Newb.
Although its a backwards way of doing things, When I purchased my last laptop I mirrored the HD to an external USB HD. If you laptop didnot ship with recovery drivers, and relies totally on the recovery partition there should be a way to burn recovery disks from that partition. Ocassionally there are obscure instruction in the packing material. Look for a "Manufactures name system tool" program or check the manufactures website. |
