need to find the best tools for personal customization of ubuntu

I want to customize ubuntu with a digital audio workstation and everything I need to do my own video casting. I will be useing it to import audio (original through firewire port and of course limewire stuff)and mix/master for my dj business. I also want to do live video casting of my gigs so people on my mailing list can watch the show if they can't be there physically. Lastly, If I could name it Ubuntu dj or whatever that would be cool but by all means not important.

You might be best starting off from one of the versions of Ubuntu customised for audio/video purposes, rather than Ubuntu itself. Ubuntu studio is one such (previously 64 studio?) but I think that there is another that I don't recall, or maybe I'm just getting confused by the name changes.

Ubuntu have fairly strict rules on what can be called Ubuntu anything or anything Ubuntu these days, so you'd better check what their website says - I believe this is why Geubuntu felt that they had to change name. On the other hand, if you call it DJ nothing-to-do-with-any-distro-with-buntu-in-the name-honest, you then have to remove all of the Ubuntu 'trademarking'

http://64studio.com/ or Debian would probably be better.
