My intro: New to this forum, relatively new to Linux but (mostly) love it.

56 years old, from Toronto, Canada. Have been using desktop computers since 1987 (MS-DOS 5.0). After doing whatever needed to be done computing-wise at work and at home using several flavours of Windows (and tolerating its intrusiveness and bloat), switched to Linux Ubuntu in March 2014 after Microsoft ended support for Windows XP. Currently running Ubuntu 16.04. Am still quite a ways away from achieving the same fluency in Linux that I had in Windows, but am progressing steadily and finding more to like in Linux (and its user community) with every new discovery.

Welcome.

I think I started at the same time with DOS, when my father bought a Schneider Amstrad 1512.

I remeber the moment when he brought a plastic tube containing memory upgrades! That was an enhancement of 128 kB totalling in an insane 640kByte.

We also belonged to the fortunate owners of a hard drive of 8 MByte. My first computer game was space invaders.
