Linux newbie looking to learn

Hi everyone.
I am a longtime Windows user that is expanding my horizons. I have a Ubuntu box that I use as a media machine and learning tool on my network at home. I am computer literate but need to get a better grip on Linux as I am planning to build a 3D milling machine that I hope to run with an old laptop and Linux. I have stumbled across this site which looks like a good place to start. Any help, tips, suggestions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi newbie! Welcome.

Tip may be that all your windows training usually can be recycled in linux. Use concepts you learned in windows. They almost all apply to linux, just in different terms sometimes.
