Hi, I'm new here too! Linux has always scared the pants off me, but I hope to change that. I qualified with Comptia A+ a few years ago, not that high tech, but it's a decent launchpad for getting systems up and running with an operating system. I am an early-retired chemist and I have worked with computers since 1970, punched card or tape in those days and filled half the room. My present interest is in compatible hardware for Linux and the availability of robust drivers. I shall shortly be installing Ubuntu 7.10 on an Intel P4 platform, but wish to choose suitable HD, DVD, video and sound cards. Any help out there, I shall be grateful for.
