Red face Just saying hello, thank you in advance..

OK OK, I'm completely new to unix/linux. I have been a MS Win user since I can remember my first computer experience.

Long story short..

I've been having a lot of problems with XP on my Dell laptop. I know, what a combination right> Windows on a 'H'ell comp. Anywho.. I was fed up with all the quirks and asking my aunt, who works with linux doing forensics.. and she suggested for me to download, and dual boot Ubunto. I did and spent a couple of days getting familiar (not thaaaaat hard to navigate) and yesterday, wiped my laptop and one of my desktops clean, running Ubuntu<edit here> 6.06 on both.

I look forward to asking all my newbie questions here and getting some good advice from the vets of linux distros.

Brooks is the name.

Thanks in advance..

Welcome to LQ!

BTW-Its "Ubuntu", not "Ubunto" (common misspelling). Secondly, there is 6.06, 6.10, and the latest is 7.04. It might help to try and keep as up-to-date as possible...
