Hello everyone. I just found LQ, found the url on the broadcom website. I am trying to get the Broadcom 54g wireless mini pci card in my laptop working. Broadcom pointed me here.
I'm a retired computer programmer, but mostly IBM mainframes and some Windows. I started out as a FORTRAN / COBOL/ Assembler application programmer, then became a systems programmer on IBM type mainframes. When PC's invaded the workplace I switched to DOS programming mostly in C but with some assembler, PASCAL, and of course Basic programmminf, also some database languages. When windows hit the scene I started programmin windows apps in C, then moved on to Visual Basic, C++, and Java.
Now that I'm retired I have taken windows off my machines and loaded Fedora Linux on both my desktop and laptop. I currently run FC 5 on both.
I understand the theory but am still sorting out the specifics of how to do things in Linux.
Right now my problem is getting the wireless on the laptop to run. At some point I would like to do a little programming on the Linux box, preferably in C or Java, I'm not a fan of C++
well, thats my story. Happy to find you.
