Talking Just another LiNuX power user

Hi Guys!

I have been using linux since may 2007. Been a serious user since September 2007. Now I can't have enough of it, and I am not getting unnerved by experimenting and commandline.

Switched from Ubuntu 7.04 to Ubuntu 8.04 to Debian Lenny to Sidux Nyx to Arch Linux Core Dump.

I use Arch Linux now, with my own semi-DE called IceDE which I make with loosely intergrated light weight apps like emelfm, irssi, nano, yaourt, xine, etc along with KDEmod for a full featured Desktop.

I originally registered to LinuxForums.org to help choose the right distro. Recently, when I visited it again, I got help to ditch ubuntu. But since this site I have not registered in, I am joining in and hope to solve problems, create problems and have fun. But the thing that originally kept me off this forum was the set of ads, which I can tolerate, and the ugly theme and emoticons, which I can't handle. I hope these two become better some day.

I never see any ads here.
I wonder if you have ever heard of nice extensions to the firefox browser such as Adblock Plus, Flashblock and NoScript.
It is in your own hands to make your experience on the web better.

I know about them, and I even sometimes use Stylish to change themes and RIP to remove objects off webpages. But after a fresh install, this experience is maddening.

If you do have comments on the theme and emoticons, you should start a thread in the Suggestions and Feedback forum - every member here can do that. I believe the emoticons are the stock ones from vBulletin and the theme was designed to look like this - but create a thread and see what happens....
