Just an introduction
Hi therrre, and greetings to all.
I'm totally new to linux, have't installed anything yet, just getting a feel for the distros until I make a decision. Still need to get used to command-line operations. I haven't even dipped my toe in the water yet, but am anxious to learn.
Hardware: A 32bit system, presently running Windows 2000 on my primary drive, a 60 gig, with 20 gigs of mp3's and assorted apps.
I'm using a Pentium 4 running at 1.8 GHz, 512 Megs of DDR RAM.
Just installed a 160 Gig secondary drive, which I plan to use as a dual boot drive, installing XP first, and then a linux distro. Gradually, I'll move things over from the primary drive as a backup mainly for my music files. I still haven't decided how to partition the secondary drive in order to optimize things. I'm assuming at this point a partition each for each OS, then separate partitions for data and applications.
It's a Shuttle MV42 Spacewalker motherboard.
So you see it's a relatively older system, not ancient however.
