Introductions

Howdy folks,

Let me first apologize for what could easily be viewed as wasting a thread by some, but I figured it would be polite to introduce myself before I started posting. Futhermore, I apologize if this was the wrong place for this sort of thing but figured since I didn't see any other place to do so, and since I've been primarily using FC2 on my box, I'd post it where I'm most likely to be the most.

Anywho, I started in our blessed industry at the young age of five years old when my uncle decided to spark my interest in electronics. Soon I was buying (or rather, asking my parents for) any book they had at Radio Shack (back when it was actually about building gadgets instead of buying them.)

Soon I entered the computer world with a Ti-99/4a system that my uncle had laying around and joined the local users group with him. I became interested in programming and picked up a few books on it. Soon thereafter I was writing programs in Basic and Extended Basic before moving onto early Pascal.

From there I entered the PC world with an 8088 and then a 386 and so on and so forth. I ran "The Edge!" BBS out of Maryland for a while and had to learn rudimentary C++ and ASM in order to support/modify it. I wish I would have kept up on that but sadly as time went on I became more fascinated by the hardware side of things and became more of a "technology enthusiast" rather than a programmer.

Over the last few years I have worked in varying positions in small to enterprise level businesses and presently work as part of a team of Sr. Technicians / System Administrators in a rather large Enterprise mixed environment.

Most of my experience up until this point has been wint varying WinOS's. If Microsoft made it, I have touched it at one point or another. =) Of course that means nothing here, which I guess brings me to the point...

I have watched the Linux community grow over the years and my interest peaked several years ago back when Linux wasn't quite so mainstream as it is slowly becoming. I recall trying to get a RedHat install to work properly but whether it was just my inexperience or bad ISO's, I don't recall. Either way I dropped out of the community for a while.

About a year ago now I started playing again and most recently, with the release of Fedora, I've finally decided to dedicate a box to furthering my understanding of Linux.

Right now I'm running FC2 on a P4 1.4 (Original P4), Asus P4T, 512MB ECC RDRAM, nVidia TN2 M64 with a 20GB hard drive, dvdrom, cdrw and just as basic no-name pci sound card.

As you can probably tell I am prone to long posts -- hope that's not too annoying. =) Anyhow, Just figured I'd introduce myself.

Take Care,
