Introduction To Forum

Hello to all. I have been a Windows User since exposure to their Version 1.1 in about 1986. Currently running XP. I have been watching the Linux OS world for a few years, but was never interested enough to transition to it because I prefer GUI to command line interfaces. Recently I reached the tipping point with Windows when their XP software announced that I had reloaded it too many times, and I would have to buy another "key". I took another look at Linux, and the "free" (but not as in beer) concept, and decided to give it a try.
After reading mucho online stuff about Linux, I found it had moved significantly into the GUI environment, and that certainly overcame my reservations about it. I read about all the "major" distributions (and absorbed as much Linux Lingo (like "distributions")) as I could, and settled on PCLinuxOS 2007. I ordered their livecd/installer disk, and got it in the mail this morning. I have been trying to install it, but without success. Based on the instructions for this part of the forum, I will not ask any questions about my failed install as part of my introduction to the forum, and will ask questions about it in another post (I have searched unsuccessfully for answers to my questions using the search function of the forum). Thanks to all those who have, and continue to, made/make this forum available. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of Linux through its use.
