introduction

Hi to everyone,
I have tried linux several times since 1999. But never used more than two weeks. That changed in 2014. I am using linux as my primary desktop OS since January, 2014. Tried several distributions, mostly Debian based. Pardus , Mint , Ubuntu , Xubuntu , PCLinuxOS , Debian , KWhezzy , SolydXK. Desktop Managers used KDE , Gnome3 , Mate , Cinnamon , Unity , Xfce.

Currently using Mint 17 Cinnamon.

Welcome to Linux in general and Mint+Cinnamon in specific.
I think that you have made a good choice for a beginner. I think that you will find The Mint community Linux Mint Forums very helpful ... in addition to here are LinuxQuestions.

Please return to this thread with your general, getting started questions. That will offer others a place to learn from your voyage.

ASIDE -- You will likely see many postings of the form "AAA distribution is better than BBB distribution" or similar language. Those who are happy with what they use and how they use it simply want to share their success. A few want to encourage one platform and discourage others. Sometimes that encouragement might seem like religious zealotry. We are all passionate about Linux. The beauty of the Linux Community at large is that it is your choice. Enjoy the freedom.

Good Luck,
~~~ 0;-Dan
