Introduction

Hello to the Linux Questions group. I'm hardly new, I'll turn 69 in 28 days, so new doesn't fit. I am really not new to LQ but my previous log-in seems to have melted away.

I'm a retired Engineer/pastor. I am a graduate of UC and had a great career in electronics, working with mainframes and then working on microprocessor chip design. I grew up with the personal computer and shared a cubical with Steve Jobs before he became a zillionare. I got into programming in the mid 70's and have a spotted programming career. I entered ministry at age 48 and spent my final working years starting new churches while working for computer companies to pay for the groceries.

My active interests now are Linux (SuSE 9.3 and Knoppix 4.0 are favored), Roasting coffee and drinking gallons a day, and Amateur Radio (40wpm general), I have recently upgraded almost all my computers to AMD64 and SuSE 9.3 pro. EXCELLENT! However there are a myriad of things that keep me humble with my Ferrari laptop.

Welcome! You have a great career. I think you're a great addition to LQ.

Your old account is still there, I think. The only problem is your password :)

Welcome to LQ.org. Or welcome back. Or whatever.

I too am a ham... KF4MDV. Not that I work with it much anymore. Though I have played with linux-based aprs.

Again, welcome.

on board with LQ

Thanks! I absolutely love the Linux community and LQ is at the summit. Occasionally I feel like Rip Van Winkle in that I'm off line for a bit and when I return the world has progressed and I'm behind the curve again. So many choices and so few hours in a day. So I've made a commitment to stay current with LQ - LQ pod cast etc. Then I'll begin to worry about who to make #2 :-)
