Introducing myself

I keep getting this message stating that I should post something or ask a question to LQ.

Since I have had no questions that haven't been previously asked (and well answered), I will simply introduce myself.

I an a retired professor (Clemson University--Materials Science and Engineering) and have used commercial stuff complete with the infamous Blue Screens, viruses, and expensive software because Clemson only supported this one platform for main line computing. Towards the end of my career, I switched to Mac OS X and loved it!

I had limited experience with Unix on a workstation and was impressed with the stability of the platform. Finally, I have tried Linux and am thoroughly impressed.

There! I've made my first post--the next post will be because I have a question that hasn't already been asked.
