Intermediate GNU/Linux User Who Breaks Things A Lot

I began using GNU/Linux last November when I downloaded Ubuntu 10.10. My video card drivers and monitor had issues with each other, so whenever I booted into the liveCD, as soon as X started, I'd get no signal. I didn't end up fixing that issue until about a month ago, so my desktop's sadly been stuck with Windows for most of its life. I did install 10.10 to my laptop on the first try, however, and have since upgraded to 11.04. All the problems I've had with GNU/Linux have taught me quite a bit, so I can actually be useful with other people's problems sometimes (though not usually).
I'm currently learning Python and Bash scripting, but am still a beginner with both.
