Interested in Slackware Forum.

I have been a prowler on this forum now for a little over a year, coming in and looking for info, or following links from other sites over here.

My lastest was following a link from slackersbible.org better known as Slackware Handbook over here, because they said youall had a forum dedicated to slackware.
(sorry the link isn't alive, the forum won't allow it until I have 5 or more post)

I've been playing with slackware since 9.0 but I now have 10 and would like to put it into use, Now the handbook has answered some question. But I still have a few left.

So I'll see youall in the forums.

Gentoo?

I have tried Gentoo several times and was unable to get a successful instalation. As for SuSe, I used it for almost a year. But my slow old boxes just didn't run to well running KDE. So I've moved over to Libranet and Slackware with Icewm and/or Gnome.

gentoo took me quite a few tries. I've played with it since the day it came out, but failed everytime. I've probably done 8 to 10 loads of it and always failed. I finally got a good load last week or so (stage1). It seems to be quite fast, likely because I haven't loaded much yet. I'm not sure what I did differently, maybe my linux knowledge has gotten to the point where I could realize mistakes I was making before. Slack and Suse remain favorites of mine, although Novell is slowly changing my mind on that.

I haven't given up yet!

I haven't given up yet, I have this 80 gig drive partioned to build on. My Libranet uses 10 gig, and runs grub. Then I have several different 10 gig drives to play with.

I found a script last week to do a install of stage three gentoo. Thought I'd give it a try on one of the partiones. I have another I keep working on my own building gentoo.

I also have been playing with "Linux from scratch", since 5.0 and have yet to do a successfull build. And a couple of weeks ago I downloaded "Debian from scratch" Thought I'd give it a try.

One thing about those three distros they do teach you a lot about the internal workings of Linux.
