Hello everyone!

I'm new to the Linux field though i've been using computers most of my life.

several past attempts at Linux have resulted in failure (although looking back, most, if not all, were PEBKAC issues ^_^). Ubuntu kept crashing on install. Gentoo was just a bad idea for a newbie. Some obscure distro i found at a swap meet had help manuals to make microsoft proud. SUSE was on a DVD and i didnt have a DVD drive. Fedora didn't like my video card.

finally, i got an old Gateway solo pro 9300 and i've put slackware 12.1 on it. so far (20 days in) everything is good and i'm slowly learning how to use the system.

Ah, yes i've had past experience in linux through my schools webteam club servers, and i did manage to get a gentoo server up and running for the club (with a bit of coaching from other members)

so yeah, that's about it. if anyone knows of any good reading material to share, i'd really appreciate if it was passed on. i love to learn all i can.
