I need a concise tutorial on basic Ubuntu commands
I have been using Ubuntu but not too deep in Linux generally, i need a basic beginner's guide where i can learn basic commands

There is also The Linux Command Line by William Shotts. It is under a Creative Commons License. You can download the PDF or order the print book from No Starch Press via your local bookstore. If you are just starting out, I recommend the latter since it is very convenient not to have to page around around on the screen while trying something new. Parts 1 and 3 will probably be most useful. But regardless of which books or tutorials you start out with, one goal should be getting familiar with how to read the manual pages, including use of the tool "apropos" as well as looking at the See Also sections. No one can remember that many programs (commands are just programs) but you can remember a general way how to find which programs do which tasks and then go forward on an as-needed basis. The programs you use frequently will stick in your memory and the others you'll get quick at looking up like everyone does. You'll like the shell. It's a powerful and flexible user interface which has been refined on an ongoing basis for 40 years or so. So it's quite good at what it does. One tip about that, when working with the shell interactively, learning tab-completion will help a lot. It works for finding programs as well as finding files and directories and saves a lot of time and effort. |

Ubuntu has some good introductory tutorials on using the command line. They might be a good place to start while you tackle longer references.
