I am a NEWBIE when it comes to Installing, but worked with UNIX / LINUX for Years
Hello to all you other newbies (and gurus) out there!
I feel like I am on the start of a Great Adventure, as Peter (Pan) might say..
I've used UNIX a lot for work, and some with Red Hat Linux on a PC, also for work, have been writing Shell Scripts for Years, most very useful, both in the Korn Shell (my favorite), equivalent functions in C-Shell, and was SUCCESSFUL in converting over my entire Suite of Korn Shell Scripts to work on the BASH Shell (did this for my daughter who is now a wiz at Linux – self taught like myself)
However I have NEVER installed Linux for Myself on my PC Before!, until now..
I will be setting up my new 500GB hard drive to Multi-Boot MS-DOS 7.10 (yes! MS quietly DID Release this LAST Version of Dos which is downloadable as a zipped ISO for FREE!), two of Windows XP (because I can, and to try out some ideas), and, finally, LINUX, which is what brought me to this FORUM to investigate the Pros & Cons of GRUB vs PartitionMagic Boot Manager.
I look forward to finding out all sorts of NEAT things about Linux, and, perhaps, answering some questions… well see.
