I'm the OpenSourceror!

Hiya folks. I'm from the past, just like you guys...and girls. and all you out there who don't know what you are, sorry...you must not be from the past then.

Now, I have some requests. I have some questions. I have some knowledge. I have some absence of knowledge.

I study Computer Engineering for my major, but I hardly do my work, and I mostly do research on psychology and neuroscience.

And for anyone reading this, the SteelSeries Xai professional Laser gaming mouse does not work in Linux yet. I just found out--I'm super disappointed.

Considering I don't know what the Delta House is, I'd say "no"

What is the Delta House? A fraternity, or something else?

Oh, and Thanks for the welcome. I'm a big proponent of open source software. I have massive collectionfs of open and free software for windows, but I'm getting kinda depressed about the lack of simple hardware support in Linux. I've had problems with just about everything in one distro or another.

I have a profile on Ubuntu Forums and deviantArt, and I submitted an idea to redo the Places menu in GNOME 2.x, but it's pointless now that GNOME 3.0 is looking to be released (soon i hope).

Right now I'm looking for a new distro. Ubuntu is getting very bogged down. I've managed to kill Compiz, somehow, and my ATI Radeon X600 (mobile) graphics card driver is weirdly registered, so it doesn't show up when I run Compiz...however the calls to the openGL library result in successfully executed code. I've run a few applications using the terminal to launch them, and using the background messages that show up in the terminal while running different applications I've noticed that a whole ton of them are having errors out the wazoo.

I'm thinking about getting Arch Linux, although I'm not sure I'll like its power-user design that has little GUI stuff in it.

〉 The other reason I'm here is I want to find help with writing a device driver for my $100 mouse.
