How to fix "E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."?

Tried installing g++ package and mysql server.for any package i tried installing it shows the same error.
I tried all the suggestion which were mentioned.I get the following error:

chaitanya@chaitanya-SVE15135CNB:~$ sudo apt-get install mysql-client-5.5 mysql-server-5.5
Reading package lists... Done

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-client-5.5 : Depends: libdbd-mysql-perl (>= 1.2202) but it is not installable
Depends: libdbi-perl but it is not installable
Depends: libterm-readkey-perl but it is not installable
mysql-server-5.5 : Depends: libdbi-perl but it is not installable
Depends: mysql-server-core-5.5 (>= 5.5.49-0ubuntu0.14.04.1) but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: libhtml-template-perl but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Welcome to LQ, and please review that link.

Your question is very incomplete, the system and conditions are all missing where it makes it difficult for someone to respond and help you.

This particular forum is intended for first messages of introduction, and browsers for unresolved questions don't usually see new items flagged in this forum, instead people only see questions if they choose to visit this forum to welcome new members. There are other forums, Software or Newbie where you'll find better help. I have asked a moderator to move your thread already. The process to do that on your own would be to use the "Report" button, which will alert a moderator that you have a request or comment. Once again, this action has already been done.

Please do not create a duplicate question in another forum, that will likely cause confusion, instead please allow the moderators to move the thread.

As far as clarifying your question, you can edit your original comments or add a reply to this thread to clarify things such as your system, the packages you're trying to install, what Linux distribution you are using, and what version of that distribution, along with any further details which should provide enough information to allow someone to be able to help you.

Welcome to the forums. Sorry if this seems like a big push back, it's not intended to be, it's more intended to help you understand better how to ask your question and which forum may be better for the question.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I would also echo what rtmistler has said.

Regards...
