Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I've traveled to linux for about half a year ago and got not too bad at it, however still not too good to call myself something like "power user". I've tried OpenSUSE 10.3, 11.1, 11.2, Ubuntu 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, SLES 11 SP1, Red Hat 9.0, Mandriva 2007.1 and some more (including FreeBSD 8.0, honestly, I felt like a pilot - didn't understand anything). Now I'm using Slackware64 13.1 on my desktop PC and Ubuntu 10.04 at my so called server (which I'm using to route to internet, play music and host files).
Now, my main tasks today are:
* creating reliable, simple and highly extensible meteorological automated system
* bringing up XEN at my desktop PC (I'm stuck on kernel: it's loading without XEN, but panics not mounting root fs under it)
* creating a great metal album to rule the world ^___^
I'll create (if I won't be able to find) a thread corresponding my current problem if I don't make it work myself. Well, if I get it done, I'll create it myself - 'cause there's lack of guide for it. ^___^
