Talking Hi, I am a white sheet of paper!

Hello, I am Joanne! I am new to this board and I am new to Linux!

Except some random googling about Linux, I pretty much know nothing about Linux... I am getting my new netbook (Samsung N210) tomorrow and I have decided to install Linux on the netbook!

I am as blank as a white sheet of paper! I will definitely need a lot of helps and I will start lurking and asking random questions in this forum! Haha! Leave me suggestions! Thanks!

Hi there, white sheet of paper

Welcome to LQ Joanne, and great decision on deciding to try Linux. We'll do our best to help you out.

There's loads of information here, including sub-forums for netbooks and laptops, so if you cannot find the information you think you need, feel free to start a thread and ask some questions -- just have a search first before asking -- it's *probably* been asked before somewhere

I have tried to install ubuntu - boot CD - in my old computer (around 5 years old)... then I get a swap partition error... (I tried to install ubuntu as "entire" HDD...) and the installation got rejected. i think the HDD got clean off, now i cant even boot hdd... Should I try Mint (or other distros) now?
