I've gotten lots of help from this forum, and now I tried to reply and it said I can't post a URL until I have made at least one other post, so here it is.
If you happen to read this and your from Las Vegas, say hi. Maybe we can help each other out some time.
I'm not from Vegas, but got married there.
Also I found that you're not the only one there using Linux, it also runs at least some of those gambling-machines, as I could once see one of it booting.

That's cool about seeing the slot machine booting, I know a bunch of them run xp embedded as well.
Mostly I used Fedora, but I also have Ubuntu on my laptop. I've also dabbled in quite a few of the others, including some embedded flavors. I hope to get programming on Linux soon. I got started, but haven't gotten too much done. I have eliminated most of my MFC code in anticipation of cross platform releases though.
@draco: Can't tell which distro as I didn't see the whole process. It didn't have any graphical boot-sequence like Fedora or Ubuntu, just the endless scrolling of text which is more or less generic throughout the distributions.
Over the years I've seen quite a few of those things, an ATM showing the Windows 2000 desktop, a flight-info-screen at Heathrow airport which showed a BSOD for 3 weeks (at least it was also there when I came through again 3 weeks after initially seeing it), train-ticket machines showing the hand with the Amiga-floppy and stuff like that.
It's always interesting to see that kind of stuff.
