Hey LQ members.

I'm new to the Linux world. Well, sorta of. I have been trying it on and off over the past several years but this time I have decided to go all the way. I installed Mint over my Windows 7 install. Now I have almost all my hard drive back (7 took up so much of it) the machine runs so much cooler. I was having it heat up and shut down under Windows 7, it hasn't done it once with Mint. It runs faster, just like it did when it was new.
I'm glad to be here and even though I don't know a lot about Linux yet I came here to learn and hopefully as I learn I will be able to help others. I also am reading a lot of books about the subject... I have an older machine I Xubuntu on. It's kinda my play machine to try different distros out and stuff.
Best to all.
Preston
