hello world

Thought I better say hello!

Found Linux Questions and thought it might be a good place to hang out!

I have been using Linux on and off since 1998 with Red Hat 5.1.
Currently, I have settled on Mandrake because it does what I want it to do. However, before my current choice, I've used SuSE 7.2, 8, 8.1, FreeBSD 4.8, and thought about installing Gentoo - actually still thinking about it!

I work in IT sales - currently hardware distribution, but prefer solution sales. Although I don't get my hands dirty during working hours, I've always had the technical knowledge!
Using Microsoft products since MSDos3.2. Been building PC's for the last 8 years and playing with networks for the last 4 years.

So why Linux? Because I don't like Microsoft's business practices! Their software stinks, but that's not my issue - I hate CAL's - why should I have to pay microsoft for connecting to my server (running win2K) to collect my information, using a remote non microsoft OS and a non MS application? Its just greedy! Im lucky because I meet with Microsoft personnel regularly through my work - so I can tell them face to face, but it still something that makes me mad!!

Anyway - I want to learn more about programming using Bash and C.

If I can help anyone with anything I've learnt, it would be a pleasure!

Oli
