Hello to the LQ community
Hello everyone here at LQ,
being a new member I'll introduce myself briefly.
I've been a Linux user since 2006, when I stubbornly decided not to change my (then) eight year-old PC, stuck to outdated software (guess...) and strangled by the indispensible antivirus. The word "Linux" was ringing in my head since a while, and eventually I chose Debian for its features, quality, scalability and freedom. It _was_ a good choice. Now I'm using both stable and testing/sid, on pretty old and newer machines (1998-2012), with different configurations (stripped-down firewall, ftp server, desktop machines). Debian is a *great* project for everyone looking for quality, stability and freedom - including the freedom to choose what (not) to install ;-)
I also tried Ubuntu, somehow I didn't like it but probably this is my fault. More recently I installed Slackware and I _did_ like it: a great, stable distribution, different from Debian in its approach, maintained by its founder with the help of few other people - they're doing a good job, really.
I don't surf the Internet a lot, but I hope to be able to contribute to this useful forum :-)
Glad you are here
