Hello LQ members.

I Believe I am posting in the intro forum, but it doesn't seem correct, it doesn't have a custom form, so, I'm just hoping. My name is Benjamin Dibell, and I am a complete linux fanatic. I used DOS with seal and then dosstart before finally being able to try linux in 2001, and what a great day it was. I had known about it for some time, but did not have any blank CDs, and my drive could not record because it had no driver. As you know, back then blank CDs were difficult to find and use, because not many were around. I managed to find one and find a driver and command line CD recorder for DOS, and recorded Mandrake, now mandriva, you know, I can't even remember the version!!! I then tried Ubuntu in 2006, which I found good enough to use, but too different to be called a linux distro. In late 07, I tried Fedora core 7, and never went back. I now run fedora core 10 on all my systems exept a freaky kiosk thing I built, which uses gOS rocket e. I greatly prefer RPM to DEB and yum to apt-get, and GNOME to KDE. GNOME puts things in a easy to use way, and gives you features you need, and none you really don't. KDE does the exact opposite. I hate windows and microsoft, otherwise I would not have used DOS. I now also have an iMac G3, I know it's old, and an eMac G4 which runs Fedora 9 for PPC as my personal file server. It has no GUI, unlike the iMac, which runs Mac OS 8, and since it does not have open firmware, or even a modern CD-ROM drive, it makes putting linux on it very difficult.
I think macs to be OK, and OS X to be usable, but they just aren't for the true geek. I hate windows because of it's lock-you-in interface and poorly written code, along with it's horrible customizability and lack of even the most simple apps by default. Don't say fedora can't do MP3s, it can do much more, it just isn't included. I'd rather have firefox, openoffice, and GIMP than bubbles on the task bar and a flashy intro. I am glad to be here, and I can help you in many ways.

Glad to be here.

Well, I've looked here for answers to some sick tricks I intended on doing, and I find this place to be even better than ubuntu forums, which if it wasn't for their disgraceful distro they supported, I would still be there, but this seems much more friendly. It has better answers too.
check out my site, which has it's own forum, and please post there. It's http://linuxmadegeeky.weebly.com/ and why don't they support HTML links and buttons?
