Hello from United Kingdom, Linux convert at long last :)

An intermediate/power user of Windows for 20 years, there was a yearning in my heart to one day dump Microsoft and move onto Linux, unfortunately everytime I downloaded and installed Linux, the hardware just didn't work and was a nightmare to configure so removed it.

But I kept coming back every year being quite an intelligent chap and had a fascination with Linux, so finally this year after being a beta tester for Windows 10 for near on a year and not overly impressed with Microsoft's latest offering I decided on Windows 10 launch day to stick Linux on all my PCs again, the date it happened was very ironic lol

I told myself right this is it, need to knuckle down, read some books, do a course, there was a great Introduction to Linux Course on a website called edx i think it was, wow got into that and I was hooked, cant believe how much mature the Linux kernel is now and everything just works! Amazing, I am at the moment using Fedora 22 as i have massive book on Red Hat and a fair bit should apply to Fedora.

I have never enjoyed learning this much, and KDE Plasma 5 is just a pleasure to use with the odd crash, but the configuration options seem endless!

Anyway enough rambling, but I am like a kid in a candy store, i cant stop downloading live cds and trying out as many distros as possible.

I think my path will be stick with Fedora for a year or depending on my ability to learn maybe 6 months if I pick things up faster and then look at Arch next, then Gentoo, but I really do like Slackware as well.

Cant wait to get stuck in though and pester you all with some questions soon

How do they say Howdy in UK? Howdy!

I think it helps a lot to test out stuff even after you get comfortable.
