Hello from a some-what experienced 16 year old Kentuckian

Hello! My name is Nick, and I am 16 and currently residing in Lexington, Kentucky. I have been using Linux since about late 2005. As with many other people, I started out by using Ubuntu and worked my way into other Distos. I have used many distros, but I always seem to come back home to Ubuntu.

I am currently working on building my list of certifications. I am already A+ certified and I am studying for Network+ next, then Security+ and then Linux+, and after that, whatever seems fit for me to obtain at the time. I am a big open source and Linux advocate, as well as a big geek. I am the one that people in my school usually come to for questions and answers about computers.

I have converted many of my friends, teachers, and even bus drivers to Linux users. I would start off by telling them about it, and telling them about how it is completely free for life, and how it has no viruses. If that does not win them over, I present them with all of the flashy effects now possible in Linux with Compiz Fusion. Of course, by doing all of this, I generally give them my phone number, email, address and other information just in case they need help with anything. I set them up with all the essentials. I judge whether they are computer literate or not. If they are not, I make everything plainly obvious to use, such as big icons on their desktops that say Internet, Email, IM, etc.

I have also been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome a couple years ago. I think that the diagnosis has changed my life for the better because I can identify any problems and fix it, like I would with a computer I am working on.

My current computer setup is:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
RAM: 2GB
GPU: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4850
OS: Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit (thinking about going to 64 bit soon)
FS: EXT4
WM: Gnome for now but going to go to either Xfce or Enlightenment again
